In late August of 2004, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, therapists, and academic experts on fear and terror came together.  I was privileged to be asked to be in attendance.  This was a non-political event, and strictly to see if 91 different diverse people from diverse and very different parts of the world could come together and do something about terrorism, and its after effects.

It was a marvelous group of diversity coming together for problem-solving to benefit people everywhere, regardless of nationality or religion who find themselves paralyzed by fear.

Molly and Monet, this wonderful book, now sold all over the world, was the attention getter for someone (me) who had experienced their own personal terrorism.  That is how I was chosen to participate.

An international board of Patrons endorsed the Assembly, including former Australian Prime Minister Bob Hawke, Former British PM, John Major, Former Israeli Prime Minister, Shimon Peres and Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and others..

The purpose of us being asked to be there was to present different ideas and suggestions out of the government's eyes, and through people's eyes, to break down the different components, and help go back to our cities and communities and perhaps suggest.  The main outcome will be a white paper, and a documentary.

THE GENERALIZED REASONING FOR THIS TYPE OF GATHERING........

PREVENTION, CURATIVE INTERVENTION, COMMUNITY INTERVENTIONS, FACILITATION OF GLOBAL , NATIONAL, AND COMMUNITY, CULTURAL AND COLLABORATIVE EFFORTS IN A CURATIVE MATTER FOR INTERVENTION, AND EXPLORING DIFFERENT AND ALTERNATIVE MEANS OF CONFLICT RESOLUTIONS.

I have been in contact with the group as we all met in Texas (sponsored by University of Texas and a group in Australia.) for this formidable meeting.  Why doesn't the government ask more people than the victims of 9/11? They have asked the 9//11 victims, but what about the victims of street violence, and gang violence, community based terror from poor communities and the lack of adequate police?  What about the schools that are loaded with violence that first begins in the home? (Columbine and other schools)

There are probably many more violent acts committed in one community and others across this country including rape robbery, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, than the thousands killed at one time of 9/11.The outcome is still similar and that is of post traumatic stress syndrome. If we added figures up from other violent terrorism in our cities vs.  9/11, which was horrific and really got our attention because of the numbers at one time, we would probably find an equal amount of terrorism by our own people in this country.

We have to not only protect our country from another 9/11 but stop this violence that I have mentioned above.  The outcomes are the same..  Death, or mutilation, psychological and physical abuse, torture, and etc.  I know what I see and hear from patients in their own families, not to mention the society in general.  All of this comes down to prevention of the deeds in the first place.  For those of us not so fortunate, then we must be better equipped to deal with Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, as that is the result of what happens to people who have lost, witnessed, or been involved in horrible situations, i.e. (Iran), 9/11, and the daily happenings in our cities, homes, streets and communities, and country.

Molly and Monet was the way I handled my own personal terrorism, and turned bad into good, in helping others.  I see and know the victims side very well. People say to ones who have suffered loss and tragedy to "stop talking."  No....No.... That is the part of PTSD. (Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome)  You will get better with therapy, and talking.  But, our young men coming home, seeing what they have in Iran, and people who have suffered their own terrorism at the hands of those on the streets, and the big 9/11....They will never get completely over it.   Friends of these people and relatives need to understand, that victims have been in a very different place.......Almost impossible to not revisit in ones mind.
